Prologue (Chapter 1 - Chapter 34)[]
The novel starts off with Roel Ascart meeting Alicia Ascart. His father, Carter Ascart adopted Alicia after her father died protecting Carter. Roel gains memories of another life on Earth where he played a game called Eyes of the Chronicler where he is a villain who is killed by his sister with the help of the protagonist of the game, Paul Ackermann.
Determined to change his fate he starts making changes to his life such as being kind to Alicia, so that she would not hate him in the future. Even so, there was only so much a 9 year old could do. This was when he awakened the House Resurgence System, aka System. The System provides him with two shops, the Affection Points Shop and the Gold Coin Shop. Items from the Affection Point Shop required Affection Points in exchange. These are earned from the affection of people surrounding him. The Gold Coin Shop required gold coins, the currency of the world.
Roel started to make changes in his life. He gained Affection Points from his family as well as the staff hired by the Ascart House, as well as the people in his Fiefdom. He also learned noble swordsmanship as well as basic magic. He knew of Alicia's fear of sharp cutleries due to traumatic past involving bullies cutting her so she can regenerate using her bloodline. He started by feeding Alicia himself during meals which gave him a steady stream of Affection Points.
He met Nora Xeclyde, the princess of the Saint Mesit Theocracy, his home. Nora is one of the capture targets of Eyes of the Chronicler. Roel felt like he needed to keep his distance from her since she played a part in his death as well as Nora's sadistic personality. He was distant but kept a minimum amount of courtesy as a noble would show to the royal family. Nora realised that Roel was keeping his distance and realized he knew her real personality. She became interested in Roel wanting him to become her pet.
Needing money to buy something from the System, Roel went to visit Arwen of the Sorofya Merchant Association. There, he reached a deal to sell one of the items in the Request List of the catalogue for 25000 gold coins. Though this was unknown to Roel, the item he sold to Arwen was requested by Bruce Sorofya, the patriarch of the Sorofya House. The item reminded Bruce of the old promise between the Ascart and Sorofya House. He made a profit and also got gifts for his family as well as for Nora's upcoming birthday party.
Thanks to the System, he was able to reach Origin Level 6. He was able to learn a few spells. Nora's birthday was coming up and Roel was obligated to attend since he wasn't able to the previous year.
Nora's Birthday (Chapter 35 - Chapter 48)[]
Alicia, Roel and Carter journey to Holy Capital Loren for Nora's birthday. They stay in the famous Labyrinth Manor owned by the Ascart House. It is famous because of the events of the March Turmoil where the ancestor of the Ascart House, Ponte Ascart protected Victoria Xeclyde in a civil war between Victoria and her sibling, Wade Xeclyde. Ponte and Victoria sought refuge in the Manor until the Holy Eminence returned.
Since Roel was sick the previous year, this birthday party was considered a debut of both Alicia as well as Roel in the noble society. Though all the social groups had already been formed so Roel was left out. One of the most notable groups was formed by the son of the Elric House, Bron Elric. This group bullied Alicia heavily which was the cause of her trauma towards sharp cutleries.
Roel and Alicia both attended the party and conversed with various people. The two met Nora. Nora, who was interested in Roel teased him a bit gaining some attention from the surrounding nobles. Alicia had to clear up the misunderstanding indirectly.
Later in the party, Alicia was cornered by Bron's group. Roel, was alerted by the missing group as well as the missing Alicia and was able to sneak up and attack the group thanks to the System.
With great effort, he was able to defeat them. Roel collapsed, unable to move. Reinforcements came and they charged towards Roel but he was saved by Nora who revealed her Angel wings, which were her mana materialized. This showed that she was Origin Level 5. At this point the adults had found out about the fight and were rushing to the scene.
After understanding what had happened, Bryan Elric, the patriarch of the Elric House shockingly snapped the neck of his son and he returned home with the body. With that, the party ended and Roel lost conciousness.
Bryan took the body to the Connoisseur Guild, an evil cult in order to extend his lifespan.
He woke in the manor near Alicia. Alicia hugged Roel and confessed her love to him. Roel, believing that it was familial love, responded accordingly. He gained a large amount of Affection Points.
Pre-Witness State (Chapter 49 - Chapter 67)[]
Roel and Alicia return to their day to day lives after the birthday banquet. Alicia starts learning magic in order to protect Roel in the future. She requests Carter to teach her. Carter soon learns of Alicia's immense talent which could be considered the greater than Nora's.
In order to protect the Ascart House, the Xeclydes gave Roel Ascendwing, one of the Twelve Wings. It can only be used by the Xeclydes but Roel and Nora connected their bloodline so that Roel is able to use Ascendwing. He was able to The Unruly ability of the Ascendwing which allows him to teleport to a location within sight depending on his ability.
New Year's was approaching. Noble houses have a tradition to set up a Winter Hunt. Alicia, Roel as well as Carter were meant to participate in this event but Roel left to meet Holy Eminence John at his request. Therefore, Alicia and Carter were the only ones participating in the hunt. Nora, too had her own events to attend which would keep her busy.
Roel visited John and found out that Roel and Nora's bloodlines are compatible and Ascendwing could activate two abilities. The chat was kept short and John had to leave to lead a prayer. As it would be rude to leave, Roel stayed as well. Once that was over, he left to go home and went to sleep.
He woke up with Nora next to him. She teased him with candy and Roel showed her around the manor. He showed her Ponte's diaries that are kept in the manor. Roel opened one of the diaries but he was surprised to see that it was full of obscene entries about Victoria Xeclyde. Immediately shutting the diaries, Roel led Nora away from them.
The Angel bloodline is special because it is considered to be the bloodline closest to Sia. A Xeclyde can reach gold tier version of the bloodline as long as they awaken it. It also allows them to sense danger. Nora, while having a meal with Roel, sensed danger but it was a unique experience to her as she never had the feeling before. Conveying this to Roel, Roel immediately increased security and took her somewhere safer.
The Connoisseur Guild worked with Peter Kater from Mythril Priory in order to assassinate Roel Ascart. His bloodline allows him to make assassinations much easier by disabling magic tools. Thanks to another cultist, he was able to go to Nora and Roel. He preferred to avoid the Xeclydes because they are extremely dangerous to evil cultists. Since Nora was with Roel, the situation became worse. He pretended that he was there to kill both of them and said that Nora and Roel should fight each other and the survivor would be left alive. Peter knew that Nora was much stronger than Roel. Unexpectedly, Nora stood to defend Roel.
Meanwhile, John Xeclyde was given an offer by Mythril Priory. The cult would permanently leave the Theocracy and he would also be given information on 11 of the targets on his hit list. All John had to do is look the other way on the assassination. John rejected their offer and triggered the labyrinth manor. At the same time a light enveloped Roel, Nora as well as Peter.
First Witness State (Chapter 68 - Chapter)[]
Nora and Roel found themselves around many corpses. Both were exhausted. Nora's primordial bloodline was awakening. Bloodline awakening for the Xeclydes is risky and needs to be done under supervision. It can also be considered to be the time when the awakener is at their weakest. Meanwhile Roel received notifications from the System. He was awakening the Primordial Bloodline. He had a very high risk from awakening the bloodline naturally but thanks to the System, he was able to increase the chance to 60% in exchange of a loan of 500,000 gold coins. An additional 10% was added because of the presence of a possessor of the Angel bloodline.
The two realized that they were amidst a war. Nora soon realized that the armor of the corpses dated back several hundred years which was impossible. They had transported back in time. The two looked around exploring buildings searching for food and water. They found a letter that was dated the same time as the March Turmoil, the famous civil war between two Xeclyde siblings.
