The main land of the events of the novel. Not much is given about what is outside the Sia Continent.

History[]

First Epoch[]

It is said that the angels and the ancient giants are from the First Epoch. Currently, in the third epoch, they have disappeared in the annals of history. Angels, Giants and the High Elves created the Chaos Dream, or Savior Dream, to fend off against the Savior and his whispers that brought lunacy to the three races. The Chaos Dream was lent to the Dreamwalkers and this helped prolong the sleep of the Savior.

Second Epoch[]

Eras later, the heritage of the Chaos Dream went missing and the Arde House, which had a small sliver of the heritage, retrieved the Chaos Dream though at great expense. They were pursued by the followers of the Savior and eventually had to split into seven houses. The Ascart House is considered to be a major part of the Arde House.

The Twelve Wings originated from the Second Epoch.

The end of the Second Epoch was signified by the Spirit Cataclysm.

Third Epoch[]

The Third Epoch started from the Spirit Cataclysm, a famous event that led to the immigration of humanity to the west of the Sia Continent.

An enigmatic incident happened in the legendary ancient capital, and it was described by the historians as:

“Uncountable spirits howled ceaselessly in the dark, their existences omnipresent. It was as if the crepuscule was trying to talk to us.”

That incident eventually came to be known as the Whisperings of the Spirits. The descriptions in the book were ridiculously fantastical, and there were many reasons cited for the event too. But in any case, the world was never the same ever since the incident due to a change that swiftly followed.

And that change was the corruption of mana.

From then on, whenever magicians or knights absorbed mana from the atmosphere to use their supernatural powers, they could be inflicted with negative statuses. The luckier ones walked off with just a certain degree of physical harm, but those who were less fortunate descended into lunacy.

There was nothing that could create a pandemonium as effectively as the collapse of a way of life.

In the Ancient Austine Empire, where howling spirits roamed amidst an air of eeriness, the knights forsook their pride and turned against the people whom they had sworn their lives to protect, and the wise mages turned into barbarous beasts who gobbled down the bloodied innards of their own kind. Hundreds of people fled from the capital every single day, only to realize that the madness had spread across the entire empire.

It was in the face of such events that the final emperor of the Ancient Austine Empire declared a mass immigration to the west, proclaiming that the empire had been put under a curse by ‘he-who-must-not-be-named’. Decades later, after braving through untold dangers, traversing across huge swathes of miasma and charred lands, the group of people who chose to immigrate together with the empire finally arrived on this plot of land.

This plot of land had intelligent beasts that could be tamed. They were happy at the arrival of humans because they were tired of dealing with unintelligent beasts. There were unintelligent beasts that were far stronger than the Origin Level 3 Bloodhorn Deer that Carter had defeated once. Subjugating these beasts often required every resource that a country had and many countries fell because of this.

The Five Eminent Noble Houses and the Xeclyde Family worked together to build up the Saint Mesit Theocracy that is known today and so were highly respected by the people.

Humanity, over 200 years, cleared out the demonic beasts in the land and brought peace. There were many casualties throughout these 200 years to the point that a specific tally could not be determined. Historians called these people the Crusaders of Establishment.

In this new land, new countries such as the Knight Kingdom Pendor, Brolne. The Ancient Austine Empire collapsed from the Spirit Cataclysm and it was replaced by the Austine Empire.

A thousand years had passed since then, and mankind gradually developed new theories that helped them adapt to the corrupted mana in the atmosphere and utilize its prowess. The knights chose to retain their traditional names whereas the mages of the past had chosen to call themselves magicians.

What were known as Mages in the Second Epoch changed their names to Magicians. In the Second Epoch, magic could be casted unconditionally. Now, magic comes at a cost. The magic of the Third Epoch is considered to be stronger as well. A spell that could crush a person's neck could burst a person's head.

1003 years after the immigration of humanity towards the west of the Sia Continent, Roel received memories of a past life.
